Packaging — PFAS + heavy metals
PFAS ban on food-contact packaging with no transition period — the Declaration of Conformity needs lab data, not a supplier statement.
Furniture — formaldehyde emission
EU-wide 0.062 mg/m³ cap replaces voluntary national schemes; chamber slots tighten near the date.
Construction — VOC emissions
One 28-day chamber run per colour/formulation; CPR makes VOC release declarable.

Coming 2027–2030
Design for these now — the data takes months to build
Dated future requirements where the lead time matters. Brands that scope the test data early avoid the bottleneck when the deadline arrives.
Analytical — PFAS screening
POPs limits already apply; the universal REACH restriction is advancing — brands are screening portfolios now.
Construction — fire resistance classes
New R/E/I/W classes under the new CPR — full-scale furnace tests, scoped per element.
Textiles — Digital Product Passport
Fibre composition, recyclate and durability data will be required to populate the passport.
How the index is built
Three signals, all verifiable
- 1.EU regulatory deadlines. Dated requirements from EUR-Lex — the strongest forward signal, because they tell you what must be tested and by when. Each row links to the official act.
- 2.EU Safety Gate (RAPEX) recall volume. How many products in each category were withdrawn from the EU market this year — what is failing in the field, refreshed weekly.
- 3.Order demand. Which test families importers actually request most, from the volume we coordinate.
- 4.EU import momentum. Year-on-year change in extra-EU import value per category (Eurostat Comext). A growing import pool means more products that will need conformity assessment — a secondary signal, shown as direction, not a count of test orders.
This is a demand signal for planning, not a price list or ranking of laboratories. Prices shown are indicative net benchmarks from the LCAS rate card. Import momentum is from Eurostat Comext (extra-EU, annual); search-interest data (Google Trends) is planned as a future layer. Last updated 2026-07-25.
